MAP (The Mentor Assistance Program) provides art supplies and artist mentors to the visual art classes in the Stanwood-Camano School District. The program is designed to enhance student and teacher success despite underfunding in classroom budgets. In its first year, MAP funded and donated from our own studios, new and used art supplies to both Stanwood High School and Middle School. We also provided more than a half dozen artist mentors who provided valuable knowledge and skills surrounding ceramics, drawing and design, painting, photography, and multimedia. Our goal is to expand the program this year to better serve our teachers and kids.
